Vova Orlov
Director, Lead Animator and Puppet master
One day, Vova was bitten by a stray cat, and since then, he has had a special fondness for cringe stories. As a talented animator, he can create physical objects of any complexity and expertly paint them. Currently, he has achieved 30,000 hours in Dota 2.
— How long have you been working in this field?
From 2015.
— What’s your job in the studio?
Lead animation, cel animation, direction.
— What do you like about your job?
My colleagues, who are very patient, talented, and hardworking. Producers, who do their best to protect the studio artists from toxic communication. Directors, whose hard and impeccable work, motivate to keep striving for the best results. One more thing is the projects of course, — we do not work with routine mundane projects and always try something new instead.
— What do you hate about the job?
Hatred is a very strong feeling and I rarely experience it. Nevertheless, I can hate anything as long as I’m tired or when we can’t find a middle ground with the clients or colleagues. Something that I almost always despise is a project that has too many decision makers, and you end up bridging that circuit. In this case, all misunderstandings and all doubts lead to hours of changing decisions that will not work.
— What is your dream (if you have one)?
It’s about the time and space where one can simply create and not worry about surviving. I dream of a workspace that I can be gradually equipping, that will be large and bright. I also dream of being able to work less so that there is time and energy for creativity and learning new things.
— What’s your top-3 animation movie recommendation?
Arcane, Oni thunder god’s tale, Akira.
