While exploring the use of reverse perspective in digital art and animation, we discovered that very little content had been created around this visual technique. That sparked our curiosity and led us to investigate its creative potential ourselves.
The project began as a technical research exercise. We dove deep into an OSL camera script for OctaneRender, studying its mechanics and experimenting with the unique spatial distortions it could produce. As our understanding of the tool grew, so did the creative possibilities.
Rather than creating a single narrative, we developed a series of short visual stories designed specifically around the properties of reverse perspective. The result was a collection of animated experiments, three of which were brought together into a single film.
Introducing the triptych: Next Station, It Wasn't Me Who Broke It, and Burning Donuts. Each chapter explores a different scenario while showcasing the uncanny and playful visual language made possible by reverse perspective.
